Phyllostachys Aurea

Phyllostachys aurea, commonly known as golden bamboo, is a species of bamboo that belongs to the Poaceae family. This plant is native to China and has been widely cultivated in various parts of the world for its ornamental and practical uses.

Golden bamboo is a tall and upright bamboo species, known for its impressive height. It can reach up to 8 meters under the right conditions.
The stems (culms) of the plant are slender and erect, with a distinctive golden-yellow colour that gives the plant its common name. The colour tends to intensify with age, and young shoots may display a greenish hue before turning golden. The leaves are lance-shaped and can be quite long, adding to the plant’s overall graceful appearance.

It is classified as a running bamboo, meaning it has a spreading growth habit. However, its growth can be controlled with proper containment measures. This plant can form dense clumps over time.
This striking plant is often cultivated for its ornamental value, adding a touch of elegance and exoticism to gardens and landscapes. The tall, dense, evergreen growth habit makes it suitable for creating privacy screens or windbreaks.
