Corylus avellana ‘Hallesche Riesen’ This hazelnut is the oldest nut variety used in Europe. The hazelnuts are quite large and provide a sweet, bold taste. Harvest during mid-September. Unlike most hazels, this variety blooms later in the season, so is less susceptible to any unexpected late spring frosts. Catkins and flowers typically appear from March to April. Self-fertile, but productivity will improve greatly if another Hazel is planted nearby. Hazelnut Tree Hallesche Riesen bare root
