Crataegus monogyna – Whitethorn /Hawthorn. Bare root plants supplied at Height:90CM cm (3ft). The Common Hawthorn is a shrub or small tree with a dense crown and can be seen growing in hedgerows and wild in the Irish Landscape. The younger stems bear sharp thorns. The dense flowers are produced in late spring (May to early June ) and they are moderately fragrant. The plant produces ‘haws’ later in the season which is a valuable food source for wild birds.
