Viburnum Opulus Roseum

Viburnum opulus ‘Roseum,’ commonly known as the Red Guelder Rose or Snowball bush, is a deciduous shrub that belongs to the Caprifoliaceae family. This beautiful and ornamental plant is native to Europe and Northern Asia and is popular in gardens and landscapes for its striking appearance.

The Red Guelder Rose’ typically grows as a rounded, multi-stemmed shrub, reaching a height of 2.5 to 4 meters and a similar spread.

The plant has dark green leaves that, in the autumn, turn shades of red to purple, adding to its ornamental value.
The standout feature of this plant is its large, spherical clusters of sterile white flowers that resemble snowballs. These flower clusters can measure up to  10 cm in diameter and bloom in late spring to early summer.

Viburnum opulus ‘Roseum’ is often used as a specimen plant in gardens and landscapes, where its large, round flower clusters make it a focal point. It can be planted as a hedge or screen due to its dense growth habit and attractive foliage. It is a popular choice for cottage gardens and can also be used in wildlife gardens to attract birds.
