Air Purifying Plant Collection. As well as looking great, these houseplants are excellent air purifiers. This is really important, because we spend more than 90 percent of our time indoors. Toxic compounds, like formaldehyde, from furnishings, upholstery, building materials and cleaning products all contribute to making indoor air quality less than perfect. Indoor air pollution can also be caused by pollen, bacteria and moulds as outdoor air contaminants like car exhaust finds its way into buildings. But how exactly can plants help purify the air inside your home? Well whilst plants are absorbing the carbon dioxide they need to survive they also take in particles from the air. Through the process of photosynthesis, they transform those toxic particles into pure, healthy oxygen which they then release into their environment.
