Rhododendron Satan – Azalea Group
Azalea ‘Satan’. A lovely deciduous azalea with an upright habit, and large ‘devilishly’ deep orange-red flowers in late May and early June. The leaves are mid-green, green in summer and dark red in autumn.
Deciduous azaleas, also known as azalea mollis, are stunning flowering shrubs prized for their vibrant, showy blooms and ease of care. Unlike their evergreen counterparts, deciduous azaleas shed their leaves in autumn, offering a brilliant display of colours before going dormant for the winter. In spring, they burst into a riot of colours – the fragrant blossoms often cover the shrub, creating a breathtaking sight in gardens and landscapes. Deciduous azaleas are relatively low-maintenance, preferring acidic, well-draining soil and partial shade, though they can also thrive in full sun with adequate moisture. Their graceful, arching branches add a lovely, natural element to any garden, making them popular choices for borders, woodland gardens, and mixed shrub plantings.
