Vitex agnus-castus
Vitex agnus-castus, commonly known as chaste tree, is a small, deciduous shrub or tree that belongs to the Lamiaceae family. It typically grows 1.5-2.5 meters tall and is native to the Mediterranean region and Western Asia. The plant features slender, palmate leaves with five to seven leaflets and produces fragrant, lavender to violet-coloured flower spikes in autumn. Vitex agnus-castus is well-known for its medicinal properties, particularly in regulating hormones and supporting women’s health, and has been traditionally used to address symptoms of PMS and menopause.
