The Botanist
Experience the mesmerizing metamorphosis of Rubens Peale with a Geranium (1801) by Rembrandt Peale, reimagined in allegorical brilliance by French street artist Bénédicte Piccolillo. Dive into the depths of artistic evolution with this captivating reinterpretation.
“This is a painting by Rembrandt Peale, an American neoclassical painter. The painting is called “Rubens Peale with a Geranium”. I found this young man and his plant interesting and immediately wanted to turn him into a scientific botanist. In my mind, he conducts genetic experiments in the moonlight, a madman and a poet. (…). I gave him a beautiful animal to keep him company during his night of experimental research.
I’m telling you this because every time I create I tell myself stories. I believe that it is very important in the artistic process for a sincere and authentic work.” Bénédicte Piccolillo
