Fritillaria imperialis Aurora
Fritillaria imperialis Aurora, commonly known as the Crown Imperial, is a striking and unique flowering bulb. Native to various parts of Europe and Asia, it is renowned for its impressive appearance and distinctive features. It features large, bell-shaped, orange flowers that hang in a crown-like cluster around the stem, with a tuft of green leaves on top, resembling a crown, hence its common name, “Crown Imperial.” The plant blooms in mid to late spring and emits a musky odour. It thrives in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade, adding a dramatic, regal presence to gardens. Because of its size and striking appearance, it is often used as a focal point in garden beds, borders, or large containers.
Height: 70-100cm. Plant 20cm apart in a sunny or part shady position. Flowers: April/May
