Hyacinth Blue Pearl
Hyacinthus orientalis ‘Blue Pearl’ is a popular and captivating spring-flowering bulbous plant that belongs to the family Asparagaceae. Commonly known as hyacinth, this cultivar has stunning, fragrant blooms and distinctive colouration. Hyacinth Blue Pearl features dense, upright spikes of bell-shaped flowers that form a compact and visually striking cluster. The flowers are a striking shade of deep blue, which is where the cultivar gets its name. The individual florets that make up the flower spikes are closely packed together, creating a lush and impressive display. The blooms emerge from a central stalk and are surrounded by strap-like, glossy green leaves that add to the plant’s aesthetic appeal.
One of the standout features of the ‘Blue Pearl’ hyacinth is its delightful and powerful fragrance. The flowers emit a sweet, intoxicating scent that can fill the surrounding area with its perfume. This makes hyacinths a popular choice for gardens, as well as for indoor forcing in pots or containers.
Plant the bulbs in autumn, a few inches deep in the soil, with the pointed end facing upwards. Water them well after planting, and they will go through a period of winter dormancy. As the weather warms up in spring, the plants will emerge and start producing their iconic flower spikes.
Height: 25cm tall approx. Plant in a sunny position. Flowers in April-May.
