Tulip Apeldoorn
Tulip Apeldoorn is a popular and vibrant variety of tulip that belongs to the Triumph Tulip group. Triumph Tulips are known for their sturdy stems, classic tulip shape, and brilliant colours. ‘Apeldoorn’ is named after the city of Apeldoorn in the Netherlands and is often referred to as the “Apeldoorn Red” tulip due to its striking red hue. The primary characteristic of Tulip ‘Apeldoorn’ is its intense and rich red colour. The petals are a deep, velvety red that captures attention and adds a bold splash of colour to gardens and landscapes. It has the typical cup-shaped form of tulips.
They have strong and sturdy stems. This attribute makes them particularly well-suited for outdoor planting, as they can withstand various weather conditions without drooping.
‘Apeldoorn’ typically blooms in mid to late spring, depending on the climate and local conditions. It’s a great addition to spring flower beds and borders, adding a burst of colour after the winter months.
Height: 55cm approx. Plant 15cm apart in a sunny position. Flowers in April-May.
