Malus Sylvestris. Common Crab Apple also known as the European, or wild apple, A small, rounded tree with oval leaves and clusters of pink-tinged white flowers in late spring, followed by yellow-green, sometimes red-flushed fruits in autumn. Malus sylvestris is extremely valuable to wildlife: its flowers are pollinated by bees and other pollinators, its leaves are used by the caterpillars of several moths, and its fruits are eaten by birds and small mammals.
