Platanus Acerifolia

Platanus acerifolia, commonly known as the London plane tree, is a large, deciduous tree that can grow up to 30 meters tall. It is renowned for its distinctive, mottled bark, which peels away in patches to reveal a creamy, greenish-white inner bark. The leaves are broad, maple-like, and typically measure 10-20 cm across, with 3-5 lobes. This hardy tree is widely planted in urban areas for its ability to tolerate pollution and compacted soil, making it a popular choice for city streets and parks. Its hybrid origin, believed to be a cross between the American sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) and the Oriental plane (Platanus orientalis), contributes to its robustness and adaptability.
