Prunus Avium

Prunus avium, commonly known as the wild cherry, is a deciduous tree native to Europe, Western Asia, and parts of North Africa. It typically grows to a height of 12 meters and has a broad, rounded canopy with glossy green leaves that turn vibrant shades of yellow and orange in autumn. The bark is smooth and reddish-brown when young, becoming darker and rougher with age.

In spring, the tree bursts into a spectacle of delicate white blossoms, attracting pollinators like bees. Following the blossoms, it produces small, round fruit. These cherries are typically red to dark purple when ripe, with juicy flesh surrounding a single hard seed, and are prized by wild birds as valuable food.

Prunus avium is valued not only for its fruit but also for its ornamental qualities, making it a popular choice in gardens and landscapes. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun, thriving in temperate climates. The tree has cultural significance in many regions and is celebrated in folklore and literature for its beauty and bounty.
