Foxglove tree, Empress Tree. A deciduous tree with spectacular large green leaves and thick shoots. Can be grown just for its leaves. Flowers, which open late in spring before the leaves emerge are trumpet shaped, and violet-blue hence the name foxglove tree. The tree grows on through the summer nearly into October and so the tip of the shoots die back leaving a black weathered look. Paulownia
