Jasminum humile Revolutum
Jasminum humile Revolutum, commonly known as Italian Jasmine or Fragrant Jasmine, is a delightful plant known for its beautiful foliage and intensely fragrant, star-shaped flowers. This evergreen shrub is a member of the Oleaceae family and is native to the Himalayan region, including parts of India, Nepal, and Bhutan.
The leaves are dark green, glossy, and lance-shaped. The most striking feature of this plant is its fragrant, bright yellow flowers. These blossoms have a tubular shape and are approximately 2.5 cm in diameter. They typically have five petals that form a star-like shape. The fragrance of the flowers is sweet and intensely pleasant.
Italian Jasmine is a compact, spreading shrub that can grow to a height of around 1.5 to 2.5 meters with a similar spread.
This plant thrives in full sun to partial shade, with at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight each day for best flowering. It typically blooms from late spring to early summer, producing an abundance of fragrant flowers. Occasionally, you may see sporadic blooms throughout the growing season.
