Acer Pentaphyllum
Acer pentaphyllum, commonly known as the Five-leaved Maple, is a deciduous tree native to East Asia, particularly China and Japan. This stunning maple is one of the rarest species in cultivation – even in its native environment. It can grow to a height of 10-15 meters, but in Ireland, it’s more likely to reach a height of 4 meters. It features striking foliage with five distinct lobes on each leaf, hence its name. The leaves emerge green in spring, turning to vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red in autumn, providing a beautiful display of autumn colours. This maple species is prized for its ornamental value in landscapes and gardens, adding a touch of elegance and seasonal interest.
