Imperata cylindrica ‘Red Baron’, commonly known as Japanese blood grass or cogongrass, is a striking ornamental grass prized for its vivid red foliage. This perennial grass features narrow, upright blades that emerge green in spring, gradually turning brilliant red as the season progresses, intensifying to deep burgundy by summer. The red hues become especially vibrant in full sun, creating a stunning visual display in garden borders or containers. ‘Red Baron’ is relatively low-maintenance, preferring well-drained soil and full sun to part shade. It typically grows in clumps, reaching a height of about 40cm tall, adding a bold splash of colour to landscaping with its dramatic, eye-catching appearance.
