Acacia Retinodes
Acacia retinodes, commonly known as Swamp Wattle, is a striking, fast-growing evergreen shrub or small tree native to southeastern Australia. This Acacia species is characterized by its narrow, lance-shaped leaves that are often bluish-green in colour. The foliage provides a delicate contrast to the plant’s bright golden-yellow flowers, which bloom in clusters intermittently throughout the year.
Acacia retinodes is adaptable to a variety of soil types, including clay and sandy soils. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and is drought tolerant once established, making it a popular choice for gardens, landscaping, and erosion control in its native range.
The Swamp Wattle’s vibrant blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, adding not only beauty but also ecological value to gardens and natural areas. Its ability to grow quickly and provide habitat for wildlife makes it a valuable addition to landscapes seeking biodiversity and visual appeal.
